Employment Options' mandate is to help unemployed Ontarians, obtain sustainable employment. It bridges the gap between individuals seeking employment and employers seeking human resources to meet their business needs. It offers a range of services to respond to the employment needs of individuals and the skilled labour needs of the employers, and can help individuals on a path to higher skill training and employment.
Special attention is made to both the demand and supply side of the labour market. On the demand side, Employment Options is designed to improve access to apprenticeship employment and training opportunities to address shortages in the skilled trades that are projected for the coming years. On the supply side, the net new labour into the Ontario labour market comes from immigrants, many of whom are highly educated individuals and professionally certified to practice their professions in their country of origin. Many internationally-trained people are underemployed/unemployed and Employment Options services can improve access into their professions or related careers.
